The Newman Catholic Collegiate
The Newman Catholic Collegiate is a partnership of nine Catholic academies in North Staffordshire, part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, under the patronage of Saint John Henry Newman.
We commit to work together so that each academy, respecting its own unique character, can offer outstanding Catholic education.
Our priority is to help students come to know Jesus Christ, his mission and his Gospel, which forms our way of living.
This shared vision of life respects the uniqueness and diversity of each child, supports their families, and offers them unconditional love, so that they may experience life in its fullness.
To achieve this, across our academies, we will seek to know one another, offering each other encouragement and active support.
So, our whole mission and vision for the Collegiate is summed up in the words –
GROWING TOGETHER FOR LIFE
'By faith only do we know our position in the world, our circumstances, our rights and privileges, our fortunes, our parents, our brothers and sisters, our age, our mortality” Saint John Henry Newman
We have an exceptionally strong tradition of working with our seven partner primary schools and St. Margaret Ward Catholic Academy. Working together for the sake of all our students, we share the same high standards of education based on the founding principles of compassion and respect.
In 2013, our family of schools formalised its successful relationships by joining together to form the Newman Catholic Collegiate.
Together with Our Lady and Saint Benedict Catholic Academy the Newman Catholic Collegiate includes:
- St John the Evangelist Catholic Academy, Kidsgrove
- St Peter's Catholic Academy, Cobridge
- Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, Biddulph
- St Wilfrid’s Catholic Academy, Tunstall
- St George & St Martin Cathloic Academy, Birches Head
- St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, Goldenhill
- St Mary’s Catholic Academy, Norton
- St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy, Tunstall
Our Lady and Saint Benedict Catholic Academy takes every opportunity to work with the pupils within our partner schools as we recognise the importance of providing a continuum of Catholic education from a child’s early years, all the way through to post-16 education.
Activities across our family of schools include pupils in years 4, 5 and 6 attending masses celebrated at St Margaret Ward. We organise a range of sporting activities both within the primaries and St Margaret Ward site. Children in years 5 and 6 regularly attend lessons at St Margaret Ward in preparation for year 7 and are frequent visitors as audiences for school shows. This extensive range of activities, together with our carefully designed transition programme, ensures smooth progress from primary to secondary school and offers children and parents security and consistency.
