This week we have moved on to our new book; Jim and the Beanstalk. In this story, Jim climbs the beanstalk but the giant at the top is old and sad, he needs Jim's help to make him feel better. Reception class noticed lots of similarities and differences between Jim and the Beanstalk and Jack and the Beanstalk.
In our Maths lessons, we have also been comparing things. We had a teddy bear tea party to find out who had more and who had fewer. The children made some super suggestions such as sharing, getting more or having fewer of something to make sure that the party was fair for everyone.
Nursery joined us to watch a special live stream service about Saint Bernadette. We all joined in with the prayers and songs.
The highlight of our week this week was our Baptism. Father Adrian allowed us to visit the church with our baby, who we baptised 'baby Wilfie'. We all got to hold the baby, who was wearing a very special white gown with a white shawl. We had a mother and a father, as well as Godparents and lots of the baby's family and friends at the church. Father Adrian poured holy water from the font onto the baby's head using a shell. He made the sign of the cross on the baby's head and gave him his name. When the baptism was finished, Father Adrian showed reception class the special baptismal candle. We had such a super afternoon and learnt so much about baptisms!
